A Wiener Wagon Is Born…
The Great Recession of 2008 to 2009 was the worst economic downturn in the United States since the Great Depression. Community organizations, who relied on contributions from individuals and businesses for support, were greatly impacted as the donations dwindled over time.
Searching for ways to creatively help these organizations raise money themselves, Volunteer Federal thought of something that no one locally had done before: A Wiener Wagon.
It took a little over a year for the Wiener Wagon dream to become a reality, as blueprints and visions for how it should look were created, and in 2010, the first Wiener Wagon became available for the community to use—for free!*
Over the years, the Wiener Wagon has been an integral part of community events, church events, non-profit fundraisers, sports teams’ fundraising and more. Allowing the use of the Wiener Wagon for those in the community has helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars, turning the Wiener Wagon into a household name!
Along Comes Junior…
The high demand for the Wiener Wagon led to Volunteer Federal adding a Lil Wiener Wagon in 2018, along with storage sheds to house the wagons when they were not out at a community event.
All The Specs
The (big) Wiener Wagon comes equipped with an eight-burner gas grill, a mini fridge, electrical outlets, lighting, shelving and storage, and cooking utensils. Towing requirements for the Wiener Wagon include at least a half-ton truck with a 2-inch trailer ball.
The Lil Wiener Wagon has a mini fridge, and while smaller in size, has a heart just as big for the community!
*A $100 advance deposit and a signed liability release are required. The deposit will be refunded once the Wiener Wagon is determined to be clean and usable upon its return.
